Galloway 100 – 7th May

Galloway 100 – 7th May

We were delighted to have a ‘new’ event on Sunday, when Stewart, Nick and Liz Robertson kindly organised the inaugural Galloway 100, Classic Car Assembly – a car run through our region, suitable for any road legal vehicle (both classics and modern).

It was a very sociable day, attended by about 25 cars taking in a 100-mile route from the start at Ernespie Farm near Castle Douglas to Haugh of Urr, Lochfoot, Dunscore, Moniaive, Dalry, a lunch halt at Kirroughtree, before coming home via Creetown, Gatehouse and Laurieston.

It was nice to see a real mix of cars, both classic and modern, with an array of Audis, Mazda MX5s, a Porsche 9-11, a Ford Granada, Helen the Mini Cooper, and the oldest car being an eye-catching 1936 Talbot Sportsman. It was also nice to see some club members who no longer compete joining us for the day, with 1990 Solway Club Champion David Beresford turning up in their Triumph Dolomite Sprint.

Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day (I know I really did – Chairman) and hopefully if we ask Stewart, Nick and Liz nicely we can make this an annual day out?

(Update: Provisional date for 2024: Sunday 12th May)
